     V International Conference "STOP VIOLENCE"

THE INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ‘STOP VIOLENCE’ is organized in autumn, 22-23 October, this year for the fifth time. It promotes Training in Replacing Aggression, The Program PREPARE and Peace 4 Kids. The conference is aimed at the specialists working with children and teenagers, teachers, form teachers, parents and guardians. Main aims of the conference are both preventing aggression and violence among children and teenagers as well as propagating prosocial patterns of behaviour. The conference has its own tradition. The first conference took place in 2001. In 2001-2007, 6500 people participated in our conferences. This year, we expect more than 700 people to attend the conference, which is organized in Warsaw in Sofitel Victoria Hotel at 11 Królewska Street.

The organizers of the conference ‘STOP VIOLENCE’ are The Methodological Centre of Psychological-Pedagogical Help, The International Centre of Training in Replacing Aggression ICART, Catholic Foundation of Help to Addicted People and Children KARAN, The Association Catholic Anti-drug Movement KARAN and The Foundation ‘STOP VIOLENCE’ for Human Dignity. The conference is organized as a part of the program ‘STOP VIOLENCE’. There were more events under the slogan of ‘STOP VIOLENCE’: The International Conference Stop Violence, training courses – Training in Replacing Aggression and social campaigns. What is more, the publishing activity was carried out and over 120000 people (children, teenagers and adults) were involved in the program.

This year’s event is held under the patronage of the Minister of National Education – Katarzyna Hall, the Minister of Justice – Andrzej Czuma, the Corporate Director of Children’s Services – Marek Michalak and the President of Warsaw – Hanna Gronkiewicz Waltz. The outstanding lecturers confirmed their participation in the conference, for instance, from Poland there are Professor Adam Frączek and Father Professor Janusz Surzykiewicz, as for abroad there are Professor E. Fendler (the USA), Professor Kunt Gunderson (Norway) and Robert Calame (Canada). During the conference, a lot of workshops and lectures in Socio-Emotional Learning – ‘SEL’ such as Training in Replacing Aggression TZA- ART, The Program Peace 4 Kids, Prepare Curriculum are going to be presented by the specialists from the USA, Canada, Sweden, Norway and Poland. The workshops and lecturers shape social attitudes among children and teenagers who show aggressive behaviour.
